Mahdi Muhammad al-Sughuri (1255/1840) and his theological heritage
Abstract
One of the most important and urgent tasks of modern Russian science is the study of the cultural and educational heritage of the peoples of our great country. The XVIII century is the era of flourishing and development of scientific and theological thought in the socio-cultural space of Dagestan. Islam by this time was thoroughly entrenched, it became not only a religion, but also a culture and way of life of the Dagestan peoples. The activity of Dagestani scholars in creating their works in Arabic and translating foreign language literature into Arabic was very high. At this time, in the major centers of development of theological science (Derbent, Kumukhe, Sogratle, Akusha, Khunzakhe, Akhty), the humanities and natural sciences are being thoroughly developed. This article attempts to investigate the biography and scientific and theological heritage of Mahdi Muhammad al-Suguri. Most of his works, due to the fact that they have not been translated from the Arabic language and not published, remain to this day not accessible to a wide range of readers. The range of translated written treatises of this author in Arabic is very limited.
