Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the gift of marriage (mahr) from the point of view of the Muslim legal system (sharia). The lexicological and terminological meanings of this concept, types, features are analyzed, and also the main legal norms related to the gift of marriage are provided, supported by evidence from the Koran and Sunnah.
